Trustworthy: 7

Without a doubt the most trustworthy friend we can embrace is the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ.  This hymn, written in 1855 by Joseph Scriven, says it best.father-2903781_960_720

What a Friend We Have in Jesus

1 What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer!

3 Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge–
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he’ll take and shield you;
you will find a solace there.

Are you a trusted friend, someone who’s reliable and dependable? If so, resist the urge to take advantage of that friendship. Instead, look for opportunities to affirm your relationship.

Many of us take for granted the trustworthiness provided in relationships.  Yet, so many innocent lives have been abused, cheated or betrayed by a loved one.  Make it your purpose in life to be a trustworthy relative, parent, spouse, sibling or friend.

Trustworthiness; an important quality sorely lacking in leadership.

If you met someone who’s aware of everything you’ve ever done, who knows you better than you know yourself, willing to meet your every need, and guide your footsteps, wouldn’t you want to follow him?

Jesus, creator and sustainer of the universe is worthy of our trust.

Continuing with my mediation on the word trustworthy, I see tension in this image. Can you?  Some embrace the message, in God we trust, while would rather rely on the currency itself.  But which offers true security?  Which one is worthy of our trust?

The word trustworthy has been rattling around in my head for some time now.  Maybe it’s because so many untrustworthy individuals have managed to dominate the news.  I produced a series of pictorial posts to share some of my thoughts on the word.  Here is the first one.
